What we Believe

The Bible

We believe that the Bible, which being the accepted canon of Scripture, is the fully inspired, inerrant and authoritative Word of God. We believe that it is the final supreme authority for all people and the church in all areas of human behaviour, including marriage, family, sexuality, morality and ethics (2 Tim 3:16; 2 Pe 1:21).

The Trinity

We believe that the eternal Godhead exists co-equally in three persons -

Father, Son and Holy Spirit - and is distinguishable but indivisible and that these three are one God whereby all things were created (Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14).

Jesus

We believe that God the Son became a human being in the person of Jesus Christ and that he was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, died a substitutionary and atoning death for all mankind, was raised to life on the third day, ascended into heaven and is interceding at the right hand of God the Father (John 1:1; Matthew 1:18-25; 2 Corinthians 5:21).

The Holy Spirit

We believe in the deity of the Holy Spirit and the necessity of His work in the conviction of sin, repentance, regeneration and sanctification. We believe in the continual infilling of the Holy Spirit as an aspect of the Christian experience, with signs following, which gives a promise of empowerment to witness, conquer sin, live a holy life and participate fully in the ministry of the church (Acts 1:4-5,8; 2:4, 8:14-17; 19:6).

Mankind

We believe in the creation, test, fall and subsequent universal sinfulness of

the human race ensuring a total spiritual depravity, an inability to attain to divine righteousness and rendering mankind subject to God’s wrath and condemnation (Genesis 3:1-7; Romans 5:12-21).

Salvation

We believe in the need for spiritual repentance and salvation through faith

in Jesus Christ. This justification by faith alone is imputed by the grace of God through the sufficient work of Christ who died on the cross, was buried and raised to life and through faith in his shed blood people can be saved (Romans 10:9-13; Ephesians 2:8-9).

The Church

We believe there is one universal church, the body of Christ, consisting

of believers in spiritual unity from every tribe, tongue and nation and that every local congregation is an expression of that church (1 Corinthians 12:12-14; Acts 2:42-47).

The Ministry

We believe in the fivefold ministry that Jesus Christ has given the

church, namely; apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers to equip people for acts of service and that all of the gifts of the Holy Spirit mentioned in Scripture are available and active in His church today (1 Corinthians 12:7-11; Ephesians 4:11-12).

The Ordinances

We believe in the necessity of water baptism by total immersion for

all believers in obedience to the command of Jesus Christ and in the commemoration of Christ’s death by partaking in the Table of the Lord, also known as Communion or the Lord’s Supper, until He returns (Matthew 28:19; Acts 2:38-39; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26).

The Commission

We believe that the Gospel of Jesus Christ embraces the spiritual

needs of all people and that the church has been directly commissioned in Scripture to proclaim the Gospel to the world and to fulfil a ministry of healing and deliverance to the spiritual and physical needs of mankind (Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 16:15-20).

The Coming King

We believe in the literal and visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ

to the earth for the consummation of God’s redemptive plan and to reign in power and glory forever (Acts 1:10-11; Revelation 19:11-16).

The Future State

We believe in the bodily resurrection of the dead and in the final eternal judgement of the world, the everlasting conscious bliss of all who truly believe in Jesus Christ and the everlasting conscious punishment of all whose names are not written in the Book of Life (Daniel 12:2; John 5:28-29; Revelation 20:11-15).
